Common Upgrade Issues and Resolution

Download Installer

Download the installer from the MyWebsense Downloads page. A MyWebsense login is required. If you don’t already have a MyWebsense account, you may create one on the login page.

On the Downloads page, select Websense Web Security or Websense Web Filter from the Product menu, click on the v7.6.x Windows or Linux versions you need to download.

  • Websense Web Filter or Web Security – Windows. Downloads the installer for Windows.
  • Websense Web Filter or Web Security – Linux. Downloads the installer for Linux.

    Note: Sites using Linux servers for filtering must also download the v7.6.x installer for Windows. The TRITON Windows installer is used for the TRITON management console and reporting components (manager and reporting run only on Windows).
  • Microsoft Forefront TMG: Download the installer for the 64-bit Websense Forefront TMG Filter plug-in, for use with Web Filter or Web Security integrated with the Microsoft Forefront Threat Management Gateway, running on 64-bit Windows Server 2008. This plug-in is not bundled into the TRITON Unified Installer.

Common Upgrade Issues and Resolution

Download Installer

Download the Product Installer from the MyWebsense Downloads page. A MyWebsense log-in is required. If you don’t already have a MyWebsense account you may create one on the login page.

On the Downloads page, select Websense V5000 G2 Appliance or Websense V10000 G2 Appliance from the Product menu. Download the below modules required for your deployment.

  • V5000 G2 or V10000 G2 Recovery Image. This recovery image can be used to boot the appliance and restore it to the v7.6 factory image. For use with these appliances: Web Security Gateway, Web Security Gateway Anywhere, Email Security Gateway, and Email Security Gateway Anywhere.

    NOTE: Both the appliance Recovery Image and the TRITON Windows installer are required for upgrading to v7.6. Download the TRITON Windows installer by selecting Websense Web Security Gateway from the Product menu and download the Windows installer.
  • Web Security Gateway – Windows. The Web Security Gateway Windows installer includes the TRITON management console and reporting components (manager and reporting run only on Windows).

Download Installer

Download the Product Installer from the MyWebsense Downloads page. A MyWebsense log-in is required. If you don’t already have a MyWebsense account you may create one on the login page.

On the Downloads page, select Web Security Gateway or Web Security Gateway Anywhere from the Product menu. Download the below modules required for your deployment.

Software Installation

  • Web Security Gateway – Windows. Downloads the installer for Web Security Gateway for Windows.
  • Web Security Gateway – Linux. Sites using Linux servers for filtering must download the Windows 7.6.x Setup program, as well as this Linux archive. The Web Security Gateway Windows installer includes the TRITON management console and reporting components (manager and reporting run only on Windows).
  • Websense Content Gateway. Downloads the installer for Websense Content Gateway.
  • ISA 32-bit plug-in for Websense Content Gateway. When this plug-in is used, a Microsoft ISA Server can be deployed as a downstream proxy from Websense Content Gateway.
  • TMG 64-bit plug-in for Websense Content Gateway. When this plug-in is used, a Microsoft Forefront TMG can be deployed as a downstream proxy from Websense Content Gateway.

V-Series Appliance
Both the appliance Recovery Image and the TRITON Windows installer are required for upgrading to v7.6. Download the below installers only if you are running Web Security Gateway on a V-Series appliance.

  • Web Security Gateway – Windows. The Web Security Gateway Windows installer includes the TRITON management console and reporting components (manager and reporting run only on Windows).
  • V5000 G2 or V10000 G2 Recovery Image. This recovery image can be used to boot the appliance and restore it to the v7.6 factory image. For use with these appliances: Web Security Gateway, Web Security Gateway Anywhere, Email Security Gateway, and Email Security Gateway Anywhere.

Common Upgrade Issues and Resolution

Download Installer

Download the Product Installer from the MyWebsense Downloads page. Your MyWebsense login is required. If you don’t already have a MyWebsense account, you may create one on the login page.

On the Downloads page, select Data Security from the Product menu. Download the modules required for your deployment.

  • Data Security - Windows. Downloads the TRITON Unified Installer, which includes the TRITON management console and most of the Data Security components that run on Windows. Note: Some additional Data Security files must be downloaded separately. Note: if you have already downloaded the TRITON Unified Installer for another v7.6 product, you do not need to download it again.
  • Data Security 64-bit agents installation – Windows. Downloads the installer for the 64-bit Data Security Agents
  • Data Security Protector – Linux. Downloads the CD Image for the Data Security Protector Agent and Mobile Agent. Includes the OS. Burn this image to a CD and use the CD to image the Protector appliance.
  • Data Security Printer Agent – Windows. Downloads a package containing two third-party folders required during installation of the Data Security Printer Agent. Best practice is to install the Printer Agent on a dedicated print server. To prepare to install Printer Agent: (1) Extract the folders from this download package. (2) Open the folder named "ABBYY\ABBYY FineReader Engine 8.1". (3) The subfolder must be named "Administrator's Guide". Rename it if necessary. (4) Make sure the TRITON Unified Installer is in the same path on your print server as the "ABBYY" and "gs" folders. (5) Run the TRITON Unified Installer and follow the prompts to install Data Security components.
  • Data Security Export Tool. Downloads the Data Security Upgrade Export Tool, which is used to export and save Data Security settings and policies that existed in your 7.1 or 7.5 Data Security Suite Management Console. Use these exported settings and policies to import settings into the TRITON management console for 7.6.
  • Data Security Protector Upgrade Script from v7.5 to v7.6. Downloads a script used only for Protector Agent upgrades from Data Security v7.5 to v7.6.
